After Os Gemeos in 2009, How & Nosm are the second set of twins to paint the Houston/Bowery wall. This is but the latest mural for the increasingly sought-after duo, having just completed back-to-back mural installations in Stavanger (Norway) and Prague (Czech Republic). The wall references Superstorm Sandy and is dedicated to the memory of developer and street art supporter extraordinaire, Tony Goldman, who recently passed.
Of all the artistically-inclined New Yorkers who made the annual pilgrimage south to Miami for Art Basel recently, the work of twins How & Nosm really stood out. The pair produced an astonishing trio of large-scale walls in their trademark red and grayscale colors. One can get lost staring into the depths of their pieces – the longer one looks, the more details pop out. Photos simply do not do these walls justice…
More How & Nosm on the Street Spot.
2010 has been yet another crazy year, filled with lots of change, adventure, and as always, fun. The highlight for me was the adoption of my dog Ava, who I consider to be New York’s #1 pit bull street art model. I was also very fortunate in getting to meet and spend time with some really fantastic people, such as ECB, Jef Aerosol, Sweet Toof, Ludo, and Roa, during their stays in the city. My trips to Oaxaca, Art Basel Miami, and getting to see Steve Powers bring his Love Letter project to my hometown of Syracuse were a great way to rounded out the year. After taking a look back on this year, I would like to share some of my favorite photos, people, art & events from 2010 (see Luna Park’s list here).
Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

The Rock Star Bar in Williamsburg got a face lift this week, courtesy of How and Nosm of Tats Cru and R. Nicholas Kuszyk (aka Rrobots). The brothers seem to be on a serious painting spree this summer & fall, collaborating with artists such as Chuck Nicaragua, Rage, Aryz, Saber, Revok, and Rime on murals from Brooklyn and the Bronx to L.A., Poland, and Ecuador.
Os Gemeos aren’t the only twins in the graff game – born in Spain, raised in Germany and now residing in New York City, twin brothers How & Nosm have painted together for years. After wreaking havoc on European trains, they were invited to become members of Tats Cru in the late 90s. Together, they have developed a unique style, sticking largely to a red, black and white color scheme. Much like Os Gemeos, they are capable of producing intricate letterforms as well as incredibly elaborate, highly detailed fantasy worlds. Their characters bend and fold into themselves with details that often only reveal themselves after much study. I can only imagine how much time went into this massive, 3-story wall, titled “Chaos Rescue”, completed in the Bronx this summer. If you’re not already familiar with their work, I can highly recommend losing yourself for an hour or two looking through their portfolio on into their website.
